Remembrance Sunday & Thirty-Second Sunday (C)
Today we give thanks for those who gave everything they had for our peace and freedom: ‘when you go home, tell them of us and say, for your Tomorrow, we gave our Today’.
This Sunday the 11am Masses at the Friary and St Edward’s will be celebrated for those who have fallen in war. At all other Masses we will, of course, commemorate those fallen in war as part of the Prayers of the Faithful and allow for an extended moment of silent reflection.
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning, we will remember them.
Throughout the month of November we will continue to pray for the repose of the souls of all our departed loved ones. Next Sunday at 3pm in the Friary Church we have a special service of Evening Prayer for the relatives of deceased family and friends, followed by the blessing of Friary graves. (Refreshments will be served afterwards in St Clare’s Chapel).
Eternal Rest, Grant unto them, O Lord,
and let perpetual light shine upon them, may they rest in peace. Amen.
