Bereavement & Funerals
BEREAVEMENT SUPPORT DROP-IN
4th Tuesday of Month in St Clare's Pastoral Room in the Friary Church 1.30 – 3.30pm
Coping with death and bereavement in our society can be a lonely and bewildering experience.
Although grief is a very personal thing, it can sometimes be helpful to talk to others who are in a similar situation.
The BEREAVEMENT SUPPORT DROP-IN aims to provide a chance for you to do just that. It is not a large group meeting nor is it one-to-one counselling. It provides an opportunity for you to talk freely about your loss and perhaps by listening and sharing your experience with others, find something to help you cope more easily with your grief.
The Crawley Parish volunteers who coordinate the ‘Drop-In ’are friendly people who try to be good listeners and do their best to make you feel welcome.
Tea /Coffee and biscuits are provided.

We are sorry to hear that one of your loved ones have died. Please be assured of the prayers of the entire worshipping community at this difficult time. Please think about the type of funeral you wish to arrange. If your loved one was a practicing Catholic it is likely that they would wish their funeral to take place within the context of a Requiem Mass, followed by a short commital service at either the cemetry or the crematorium. It is possible to have a more simplified service (outside of Mass) at the Crematorium only. If you are unsure what type of service to request please contact one of the clergy team.
In the first instance, please visit your chosen Funeral Director who will contact our Parish Office and liaise with the Clergy who will help you put the funeral liturgy together in line with the rites of our Holy Mother the Church. The exact date and time of the funeral normally needs to be negotiated between all parties concerned (Family, Funeral Director, Place of Committal and the Church).
Where possible Requiem Masses take place during an advertised Weekday Mass, and the 11am Friary Mass Monday to Friary are particularly suitable. It may be possible to arrange a Requiem Mass at other times or in the other Churches but you will need to contact the Parish Office before making any formal arrangements, as this is always dependent on the availability of volunteer sacristans and key holders.
