Pew Sheet 22 April 2018
Good Shepherd / Vocations Sunday:
The second collection today is for the Education of Future Priests. It costs about £140,000 to form a priest for ministry and so the diocese asks parishes to assist with this cost. Additionally, the Seminary at St John’s Wonersh, which has formed priests for the English mission for the past 125 years, are appealing for funds for a significant refurbishment. The Seminary runs on a tight budget but needs to refurb the rooms at a cost of £2,000 per room and this needs to be funded by extraordinary funding. If you can contribute something towards the cost please send a cheque made payable to “St John’s Seminary” addressed to Mgr Ewing, St John’s Seminary, Wonersh, Guildford GU5 0QX. Of course the most important thing we can do today is pray for Vocations to the Priesthood, and that they come from our own families. As a necessary first step we must convert our thinking away from ‘what do I want to do with my life?’ to ‘what does God want me to do with my life?’
