ST THEODORE’S CELEBRATES LAST SUNDAY MASS AND LOOKS FORWARD TO FUTURE OF COMMUNITY
On the 29th July the community of St Theodore of Canterbury, Gossops Green, celebrated its final Sunday Mass, followed by sharing food and drink. During Mass and afterwards, many names were recalled who formed and contributed to the worship and social life of the community over 59 years. Despite the deep sadness felt, there is a strong desire amongst the majority to stay together as a worshipping and social community, reflecting the many friendships which have also been established over the years.
On the Previous Sunday three options were offered to the community and a significant number expressed the desire to keep the community active even though individuals would attend Mass in other communities; half of these wanted to continue using the church at St Theodore’s for these activities. Therefore, members of the Core Group have suggested that a series of events will be arranged which will “test the waters”. Initially these will focus around prayer and coffee! The Core Group members have proposed we start by praying the rosary (Mysteries of Light), followed by coffee on Thursday 20th September at 10.30am. At this event there will be an opportunity to suggest further activities. A second session will follow 4th October.
We hope people will support the community and, of course, all these events will be open to everybody across the parish.
